GPU Mode missing for compatible AMD GPUs

Troubleshooting for a missing GPU Mode button despite having a compatible AMD GPU

Issue

Despite having an AMD GPU that is

  • RDNA 3 architecture and newer
  • Radeon RX 7600 or above
  • Minimum driver version: 23.30
the GPU Mode button is missing.

 
 

Environment Details

  • KeyShot
    • 2025.3 and newer
  • Compatible AMD GPU
  •  Driver version 26.5.1+

 

Troubleshooting

We've discovered that AMD has stopped shipping ROCm 6 required for the HIP runtime 6 as of driver version 26.5.1.

The effect in KeyShot Studio is that the Device Enumeration will fail, and the GPU button will be missing.

The solution is to install an older driver first, and then update, as that should then allow the version 6 module to persist.

 We'll be looking into supporting HIP runtime version 7 for 2026.3. 

For KeyShot 2026.2:

  • First, downgrade to the driver version 26.3.1
  • Then upgrade to the new version
