This error refers to the thumbnails file, which is the first file to be written to the Resource Folder.
The error signifies that the file cannot be written, most likely due to something restricting the KeyShot installer or missing permissions.
Resolution
Please set the permissions for the Resource Folder. By default, it is installed to
Windows:
- Installed Just For Me:
%UserProfile%\Documents\KeyShot Studio or
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\KeyShot Studio - Installed For Everybody:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\KeyShot Studio or
%Public%\Documents\KeyShot Studio
How to set permissions on the Resource folder:
- Go to your Documents folder.
- Right-click the KeyShot Studio folder.
- Select “Properties”.
- Disable “Read-only”.
- Go to the Security tab.
- Click the Edit button. Ensure that all users have Read and Write permissions.
- Click Apply and OK.
- Click Apply and OK once more.
If the folder does not exist, please create it manually according to the type of installation you want to perform (C:\Users\<username>\Documents\KeyShot Studio if you want to install "just for me" or C:\Users\Public\Documents\KeyShot Studio if you want to install KeyShot "for everyone") and the make sure to set the permissions and retry the installation.
Additionally, please run the installer as administrator by right-clicking on the installer and selecting Run as administrator.
