An extended set-up guide for the Meta Quest 2
Issue
Sometimes it can happen that the Meta Quest2 is not detected after launching KeyVR in the Quest Link environment.
No headset detected
Environment Details
- KeyVR | Any versions
- Meta Quest 2
Cause
- The Quest Link might not be started correctly.
Resolution
Usually this happens when the linking hasn't been launched from the headset.
If the computer can detect the headset on the same network and it is paired to the computer, but not linked it will have the green button and say connected, but it is not properly linked.
First, please make sure, that the setup guide has been followed:
Setup:
-
The Oculus app needs to be installed and running on your PC. Download here.
-
The Unknown Sources option in the Oculus app needs to be enabled (Settings → General → Unknown Sources).
-
The Oculus app needs to be set as the active OpenXR runtime. This should be the case by default. If not, go to Settings → General → OpenXR Runtime in the Oculus app and click on “Set Oculus as active“.
-
For Quest headsets: KeyShot Studio VR runs on your PC, not on the headset itself. You can connect your Quest to your PC with an Oculus Link cable or wirelessly with AirLink over Wifi. Plug the Link cable into your headset and PC or put on your headset and make sure it is connected to your Wifi for AirLink. Also make sure that the Oculus app is running on your PC. In the headset’s main menu you can use your controllers to access the “Quick settings” menu (click on the area with the clock, battery and Wifi icon in the gray status bar in front of you). Then select Link or Air Link and follow the instructions in the dialog to finish the setup. You will enter a grey environment when the connection is established. Now start KeyShot Studio VR on your PC.
If the Quest 2 status just shows that it is "Connected" and not displaying the battery percentage then the headset is actually not linked to the PC. Please link the headset to the PC using the Link cable or Air Link and get the battery percentage showing.
In the Quest 2 you need to
- Go to the Quest Link menu (In the headset menu → Settings → System → Quest Link)
-
- Toggle on Use Air Link and pair the device if you want to connect using Air Link
- Toggle the switch "Access PC VR apps with Air Link or a Link cable)
- Click on Launch Quest Link that shows up after toggling the switch.
- If you do not see that option, please restart the headset by powering it off and back on
-
- Locate the PC there and initiate the linking session by clicking Launch after the pairing is done successfully.
If it is the first time linking to the headset you will first need to pair it to the PC in the same linking menu.
- A pop-up should appear asking to enable Oculus Link. Please enable it or restart the PC if you do not see the popup.
When the headset is connected and linked, you should see the battery percentage like in this screenshot.
