Missing or Corrupt Frames When Exporting Animation Frames in KeyShot Studio for IronCAD
Troubleshooting missing, corrupted, or incomplete PNG frame output during animation rendering.
Issue Description
A customer may experience issues when exporting an animation to a PNG image sequence in KeyShot Studio for IronCAD. Reported symptoms include:
-
Animation exports cut off halfway
-
Missing frames
-
Corrupt or unreadable frames
-
Lower resolutions (e.g., 400×400) exporting more successfully than higher resolutions (e.g., 1200×1200)
-
Problems occurring after upgrading to KeyShot Studio for IronCAD
These issues appear when exporting PNG frames with a transparent background to be used in Adobe Premiere.
Environment
-
KeyShot Studio for IronCAD
-
Windows or macOS
Cause
Several factors can lead to missing or corrupt animation frames:
1. Resource or Output Folder Syncing to the Cloud
If KeyShot’s Resource Folder, installation, or the destination folder for animation frames is stored on or synced with a cloud service (OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, etc.), file writes may delay, fail, or corrupt—especially with large or high-resolution PNG sequences.
2. Network or Shared Drive Usage
Rendering directly to a network location or shared drive can cause incomplete output or frame corruption.
3. Incorrect Folder Permissions or No Local Copy Available
Cloud-managed folders sometimes offload files to the cloud, interrupting file writing operations needed during export.
Resolution
Save Animation Frames to a Local Folder
- Choose a local directory such as:
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\KeyShot Renders\AnimationFrames - Ensure the folder is not synced to OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud, etc.
- Avoid rendering directly to network drives or external storage.
