AI Shots not downloading or AI Engine not Starting

A guide for troubleshooting the AI Model not downloading or the Engine not starting.

Environment Details

  • KeyShot Studio
    • 2025.2

Please do make sure that your setup meets the minimum requirements in the AI Shots FAQ

Issue 1: AI Shots not available

When clicking on the button AI Shots, instead of prompting the download, you may get an error that AI Shots is not available.

Cause

This error is likely due to lacking permission to write to the AppData folder.

Resolution

  1. Please manually create the folder named "ai_models" in the AppData folder.

    Windows:

    • Installed Just For Me:
      %LocalAppData%\Luxion\KeyShot Studio\ai_models or
      C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Luxion\KeyShot Studio\ai_models
    • Installed For Everybody:
      %AllUsersProfile%\Luxion\KeyShot Studio\ai_models or
      C:\ProgramData\Luxion\KeyShot Studio\ai_models

    macOS:

    • /Users/<Username>/Library/Application Support/Luxion/KeyShot Studio/ai_models or
      ~/Library/Application Support/Luxion/KeyShot Studio/ai_models
  2. If you have a firewall or antivirus running, please set exceptions or add KeyShot to the trusted applications.
  3. After creating the folder, please restart KeyShot and click on the AI Shots button again.

Issue 2: Failed to start the AI engine

When clicking on the button Start AI Engine, you may encounter an issue

Cause

This error is caused by special characters being present in the directory to the ai_models folder.

Resolution

A proper patch will be available at a later point, but in the meantime, please download the build with the manual auth handler bypass and a fix to special characters in the path to the ai_models folder.

Windows: KeyShot Studio 2025.2 (14.1.0.155)

MacOS: KeyShot Studio 2025.2 (14.1.0.155)
