This article will describe the bake displacement functionality in KeyShot and how to get it to AR
When exporting to AR and checking "Bake Displacement and Flake Geometry", the preview will show the displacement, but the it will only be exported to the GBL format.
The KeyShot USDz export unfortunately currently does not support baking geometry, so the displacement will not be available for AR, as usually, USDz is used for AR.Checking "Enable AR on iOS" when exporting to the Web Viewer. When entering AR on iOS the .usdz file is then downloaded and we use the iOS AR Quick Look app to view them. Since this is an exported .usdz file there will be some differences between the materials in the Web Viewer window and in the AR view. This also means that AR on iOS only works on Safari and that is a limitation that we cannot work around right now.
Workaround
While we currently currently cannot bake displacements to USDz directly, we can bake it to a GBL file first. After exporting the displaced geometry to GBL, we can import the file back into KeyShot.
Once imported, you can assign it its original material. It will look weird in the real time view, as it will be displaced twice, but it can now be exported to AR, the Web Viewer or USDz file format and will have the displacement. It will look correct in the Export View preview wit the geometry baking disabled.
