Best practice to reinstall KeyShot Studio

Procedure

A. Uninstall KeyShot

  1. Windows: Uninstall KeyShot through Add/Remove Programs.
  2. macOS: Delete the KeyShot application from the Applications folder.

B. Remove resource and application data folders

  • Windows default locations to remove or back up:
    • C:\Users<UserName>\Documents\KeyShot
    • C:\Users\Public\Documents\KeyShot
    • C:\ProgramData\Luxion\KeyShot
    • C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Luxion\KeyShot
  • macOS default location to remove or back up:
    • /Library/Application Support/KeyShot
  • Tip: Move resource folders to the desktop for backup if needed before deleting.

C. Reinstall KeyShot

Use the full installer (not an update installer) when performing fresh installs or full reinstalls.

  1. Download the latest release full installer from your KeyShot Account.
  2. If you require older versions, download a previous release available.
  3. Run the full installer and complete the registration/activation wizard.
  4. If activation requires a node‑locked license file, select “I have a node‑locked license file” during activation and load the .lic file.
