KeyShot Fails To Launch on Windows 11

Issue

KeyShot fails to launch when you click on the icon or try to open it. This article addresses a specific issue that occurs when on Windows 11.

Environment Details

  • KeyShot
    • Any versions
  • Windows 11

Cause

  • Issue with the Intel Graphics Driver
  • The High Performance GPU has not been selected so rather than using the NVIDIA GPU, KeyShot is trying to use the Intel Graphics card

Resolution

Set the GPU to "High Performance" by following the instructions below:

Set preferred GPU setting on Windows:

  1. Press the Windows + I shortcut to open the Settings app and click on Display.

  2. Under display settings, scroll down and click Graphics.

  3. Click on the Browse button and select the following depending on how KeyShot was installed


    Installed just for Me:

    %localappdata%\KeyShot##\bin\keyshot.exe


    Installed for everyone using this computer:

    C:\Program Files\KeyShot##\bin\keyshot.exe

  4. Click on the Options button and select "High Performance" from the Graphics specifications drop-down menu.

  5. Click on the Save button to apply the changes.

  6. Restart KeyShot
