Problems connecting to the Floating License Server

There are times when you just are not able to properly connect to the Floating License server. This can occur for a variety of reasons.

Below you will find a list of common issues and ways to solve them to regain access to your license server.

Incorrect server information

One common error is that the incorrect information is being entered in the Registry Wizard.

When first launching KeyShot, in the Registry Wizard select the 'floating license' option and press 'next'.

From here, you will be directed please enter some information to identify your Floating License Server.

Please enter one of the following*:

  • Designated Port@Server Host Name
  • @Server Host Name
  • Designated Port@Host IP Address
  • @Host IP Address
*Please enter the required information and not the exact text written above.

If you do not know this information, please contact your IT Administrator for more details.

Invalid version of KeyShot

If you would like to upgrade to a newer version of KeyShot, you need to make sure that your license file has been updated to include the version you are trying to upgrade to. If it is not, you may receive an error message indicating that your license is not valid for the version you are trying to activate. You can contact us in the support portal if you are experiencing this issue so we can assist you.
