Troubleshooting

1. KeyShot Studio Version

First, please make sure you are on the latest version and patch as they provide a more robust login and wider support for proxies.

KeyShot Studio 2025 (Win) - https://www.keyshot.com/download/386300/
KeyShot Studio 2025 (Mac) - https://www.keyshot.com/download/386302/

If you are using a proxy, you can click the gear icon in order to open the proxy settings dialogue for setting the proxy information and selecting a protocol

3. Try connecting to a URL through the browser

Please try to enter the URL https://login-configuration.keyshot.com into your browser.

3.1. Browser shows the json

Depending on the browser and the configured formatting, the result should be a json that looks similar to the screenshots below

If the URL https://login-configuration.keyshot.com works in the browser but KeyShot Studio still times out, the issue is almost certainly local (firewall rule for the app, proxy handling, or SSL inspection).

Please try the following steps:

  1. Try to rule out firewall blocks:
    Press Win+R → wf.msc → Outbound Rules.

Look for any Block rule targeting KeyShot/KeyShot Studio (or its “Auth/Login” helper keyshot_auth_handler.exe) and disable it.
  2. Check the Windows Defender Firewall Properties → [Domain/Private/Public] Profile → Outbound connections is set to Allow (default).
  3. If your organization is using a proxy with SSL or TLS inspection, please make sure that the URLs mentioned above are excluded from the inspection/bypassed.
  4. Security suites (Kaspersky, Bitdefender, ESET, etc.) with “HTTPS scanning” can break TLS and cause timeouts. Temporarily disable SSL inspection/HTTPS scanning and re-test the issue.
  5. Just to be safe, please ensure Windows date/time and time zone are correct, since a bad clock might cause TLS failures/timeouts.
3.2. Browser shows an error

If the browser is displaying an error, please ensure that our URLs are not being blocked by a firewall.

Add the following KeyShot URLs to the Firewall Whitelist for the organization:

Note: Contact your Network IT department to assist in adding these entries.
