      Lighting Tools Not Functioning in KeyShot

      Resolving Issues with Area Lights and Spotlights

      Issue

      Users may experience issues where area lights and spotlights in KeyShot do not function correctly, even though HDRI lighting works fine. Attempts to restart the computer, update KeyShot, or adjust light units (e.g., lumens to watts) do not resolve the issue.

      Environment

      • KeyShot (any version)

      • Windows/macOS

      Cause

      The issue was caused by Performance Mode settings, which were disabling lighting tools. Performance Mode optimizes KeyShot for faster rendering by reducing the impact of certain visual effects, including real-time lighting adjustments.

      Resolution

      1. Open KeyShot

      2. Turn off Performance Mode

      After making these adjustments, area lights and spotlights should work as expected.
